of Bast

Level 3
Time to grok the adventure: 15 minutes
Set-up:
A temple to a forgotten cat god is currently occupied by a 5-th level magic-user who commands a band of gnolls. There are no rumours, but that should be easy enough for the GM to fill in.
Things to note:
This adventure seems geared to young, new players. It plays nice: the traps are telegraphed and secret doors have obvious clues. Only one item of treasure is truly hidden, with no hint as to its presence. This isn’t bad, but it would make the adventure a bit uninteresting for more seasoned players.
Regarding the maps, I had trouble visualizing the ground level of the temple proper. There is a wall surrounding the temple and between the wall and the temple are several exterior walls sectioning off areas. None of these were keyed and didn’t have an intuitive logic.
The temple lacked life or history. It didn’t seem like a real (fantasy) location as much as a place special built for adventure.
Things I like:
As an adventure for new players, I appreciated that there is an evil human magic-user leading a band of humanoids. Classic.
The temple was well-themed (cats!), and I learnt the word “hank”.
Rating:
** A serviceable adventure for new, young players.
